BUILDING TOGETHER
Imara Umoja : Building a Strong Community
Imara Umoja is rooted in the belief that unity within the African diaspora creates stronger communities. Through shared meals, monthly gatherings, cooking classes, and community iftars, we foster connection and belonging. Current programs include a rotating legal workshop series, job readiness sessions led by HR professionals, and youth leadership circles. We’re also developing a business directory to highlight and support member-owned ventures across Texas and beyond.
Looking ahead, we plan to establish a wellness center and transitional housing program to support those in crisis with dignity and care. We’re also expanding our entrepreneurship efforts through networking and resource sharing. One long-term goal is to organize a group trip to Africa—deepening unity, reflection, and shared experience across the diaspora. Join us to grow, connect, and strengthen our community. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook to stay involved.
